ABOUT ME
Movement and bodies have always interested me.
I have an Arts background and have always loved physical theatre, dance and sport. I came to Pilates as the reluctant rehab client and was told it would help with the back pain I was experiencing at the time.
As a beginner it look me a while to grasp what it was all about. Where was my pelvis? What is a sacrum? The last time I heard the word ‘neutral' was in a chemistry lesson… I stuck with it, I was learning so much about anatomy, the way a body moved and how, with small movements and minor adjustments, big differences could be made.
I began to feel and look better and the niggling low back pain disappeared. An exercise programme that heals, creates strength, flexibility, is gentle on the joints - I was hooked... I also discovered Pilates comes in many guises and the gentle beginner exercises gave me a solid foundation for the tough classical Pilates Matwork. I went on to train with Body Control Pilates in 2007 and have been teaching ever since. A lot of my first clients still come to class, very recently one of those clients accomplished a move that had eluded them for years (Full Roll Up) - we both got quite emotional!
